DIY: Metallic Painted Bottles

Jennifer Fox

In our styled shoot Courtyard Apéro, we featured many DIY elements, including beautiful copper metallic painted bottles. They were super easy and fun to make and added beautiful boho chic style. If you're looking to get your hands dirty with a little DIY, here is a project for you!

Here is what you will need:

Materials: Acrylic Paint Disinfecting Spray {or Rubbing Alcohol}, Cloth Towel, Flat Paint Brush, Plastic Container and Glass Wine Bottles

Step 1: After all labels and glue have been removed, clean your glass wine bottle with the cloth towel and disinfecting spray or rubbing alcohol. Let it dry for at least an hour before you start to paint. This will help the acrylic paint to better adhere to the glass.

Step 2: It's time to paint and feel free to use any color of acrylic paint you like! With gentle but deliberate upward strokes, take your brush and glide the paint onto the glass bottle. Make sure to vary the height of each stroke on the bottle. Don't worry if there are some empty spots where the paint appears translucent. This will add to the boho chic look that you're creating.

Step 3: Let dry overnight. When completely dry, you can use the metallic painted bottles as a pretty accent piece for your mantle, as candles stick holders or as flower vases. For an added touch, style with candles, flowers or fresh green leaves. Voilà!
